Like this 4 feet long visitor, Red-bellied Watersnakes (Nerodia erythrogaster) are quite common in the coastal plain regions of South Carolina and Georgia. They enjoy a slippery diet of frogs, salamanders and toads. This one was discovered wandering 150' from the Edisto River up a 30' embankment. |
